Our story

A history in glass since 1826

The history of Haerens, formerly Meyvaert Glas, dates back to 1826, when the first industrial mirror factory was founded. What started as a craft activity focused on glass and mirrors has grown, generation after generation, into a leading company in technical glass processing.

In the early years, glass was processed at several different locations. Alongside industrial production, the company also operated a mirror shop for private customers. Haerens was one of the first companies to combine industrial production and distribution.

From interior glass to technical glass

Driven by the seventh generation, the company continued to grow into a global player in glass processing for the furniture and interior industry. Over time, the focus increasingly shifted towards technical glass and laminated glass with high added value.

Today, Haerens supplies a wide range of specialty glass types worldwide for various markets, including the stove and fireplace industry, medical radiation protection, architecture, interior design and other production sectors.

Ready for the future

From our two locations in Europe, we combine many years of experience with a high level of technical expertise. Our recent relocation therefore meant much more than a new address: we invested in a completely new production hall and an up-to-date machine park to serve our customers even faster, more accurately and more flexibly.

In addition, our ceramics department has been processing ceramics for high-end outdoor projects for several years. This makes Haerens part of a select group of companies worldwide capable of offering this specialised processing.
